When Devastation Strikes

Just got a call from a friend of mine who informed me that he lost his job after 30 years of dedicated service. Naturally, he was devastated and I knew exactly how he felt since I too lost my job (not too long ago) after 30 years of dedicated service. I quickly informed him of several things to do (or not to do) when “devastation” strikes. First, don’t do anything out of a sense of desperation that you will regret having done later. Second, place your faith and trust in God in a manner like you’ve never done before; cast all your cares, concerns, fears, and doubts upon Him. Thirdly, get ready for changes that will take place both at the very core of your being to the outer extremities of your life; many of these changes will be exciting growth opportunities and new challenges. And, last, but not least, only God can take your feelings of desperation and turn them into feelings of inspiration like you’ve never experienced before. Naturally, I didn’t say all these things in exactly the manner written here, but I did touch briefly upon each one of these points, knowing full well I was speaking from personal experience. When devastation strikes, God is there ready, willing, and able to heal, guide, and embrace you in ways beyond your imagination!
